Indianapolis Colts franchise Peyton Manning

With the Collective Bargaining Agreement about to expire on the 4th of March, NFL owners have decided to franchise many of the top tier free agents from their ball clubs who were preparing for free agency. Owners have decided with the uncertainty of the upcoming season, and the fact that after March 4th they will no longer be able to contact their players until a new CBA is reached. Continuity seems to be the key for many of the NFL ball clubs this offseason. Especially when you consider that their may not be  OTA’s, Mini-camp, or even training camp for that matter. Therefore having players who know the teams scheme will be very important. Sources close to the individual organizations have already confirmed that the following players have been franchised tagged:

Michael Vick  QB, Philadelphia

Peyton Manning  QB, Indianapolis

LaMarr Woodley LB, Pittsburgh

Haloti Ngata DT, Baltimore

David Harris LB, N.Y. Jets

Vincent Jackson WR, San Diego (Non exclusive)

More tags are expected to be handed out later this week. The high volume of tags will most certianly water down the free agent market.Although there are still several great players avalible out there Harvel Dahl, Tyson Clabo, Brent Grimes, Chris Houston, Manny Lawson, Aubrayo Franklin and many more. One think is for certain this NFL offseason, Nothing is for certain moving forward, this NFL offseason outside the NFL Draft coming up in April. Stay tuned for more NFL info on the NFL Front Office show!!!
