I Know it’s early but as a college football fan i’m chomping at the bit for the season to start! Some people wont agree with my top ten but….IT’S MY TOP TEN!!
So without further ado here we go!!!!

#10. IOWA- Yes the hawkeyes lose bulaga and spievey but with a healthy ricky stanzi and a great defense the hawkeyes could challenge the buckeyes for the big ten crown

#9.MIAMI-This pick is based on my long standing respect for the canes! I like jacory harris and the canes always bring it on d! but…. going to columbus, pitt, amd clemson in three weeks in a row is tough. Throw in a better than advertised north carolina team and the annual slugfest with the hokies and things will be tough for the canes this year!

#8.TCU-Andy dalton is one of the best players in the nation at his position and gary patterson always has something cooking on defense as the horned frogs have had some good defenses over the last few years! after a tough opener vs oregon state and another late season match up with the utah are the only thing in the way of another undefeated season in fort worth.

#7.OKLAHOMA-Yeah they lost some great players in bradford, gresham,Mccoy, and williams but the sooners still have lots of good pieces left in norman! landry jones returns to lead an offense that features ryan broyles and the triple threat Demarco murray and jeremy beal could develop into yet another great OU d-lineman! as always this seasons success relies heavily on the result of what happens in dallas on oct 2nd

#6.VIRGINIA TECH-You know what to expect from the hokies…good defense and GREAT special teams but this year the hokies could be very dynamic on offense! with the return of darren evans and ryan williams who rushed for over 1,600 yard and 21 td’s as a freshman and tyrod taylor’s continued improvement as a passer and the hokies could be a force to be reckoned with in ACC! but with an opener vs boise state at fedex field and late season trips to chapel hill, and miami. The hokies have alot on there plate!

#5.FLORIDA-Tim tebow aint coming through that door! But his shadow looms large in gainesville, will john brantley step up to the challenge or crumble under the pressure off replacing a college football icon? the gators have weapons with chris rainey and jeff demps on board but the gators loss some big time talent on defense to the nfl! how they play on that side of the ball in very important in whether they can return get thru a brutal SEC! They have games at tennessee, and at bama, and the georgia bulldogs await them in jacksonville with revenge on their minds!

#4.OHIO STATE-Yes i have the buckeyes at four! QB Terrelle pryor is a top notch contender for the Heisman, they have loads of talent returning on both sides of the ball, they play in the big ten but……
THEY ARE STILL THE BUCKEYES! They will find a way to choke it away some how! lol but honestly they have a early season game with miami that should be tough, they have to play the hawkeyes IN IOWA CITY,and pryor still has mechanics issues the buckeyes will be good but there track record speaks for it’s self!

#3.TEXAS-Call me a homer! i’ll be that!
the LONGHORNS have Garrett Gilbert who grew up before all of our eyes in the bcs champ. game and a stable of running backs led by tre newton(son of nate) and cody johnson,a future star in the making in malcom williams and a defense that returns Sam Acho who led the team in sacks last year
not sergio kindle! Add in aaron williams who should become yet another great db for the horns and ladies and gentlemen you have a team who could make some noise! a trip to lubbock, a early home game with UCLA and back to back games vs oklahoma and nebraska will make it hard for the horns to return to the bcs title game.

#2.BOISE STATE-Kellen moore is one of the top three QB’S in college football and after a season in which he threw for over 3,500 yards and 39 td’s and only 3 picks. He will be near or at the top of lots of pre-season heisman lists. Along with Moore the Broncos return with wideouts Austin Pettis and Titus Young who might be one of the best duos in the nation! Kyle Wilson is the only starter who’s gone and let’s not forget they play in the WAC! The opener vs the hokies in landover is the biggest game in the program’s history win that one and the bronco faithful might want to plan a return trip to glendale! but beware of the vandals up in moscow!

and the number one team in THE BREAKDOWN PRE-PRESEASON TOP 10 IS……..
In the words of the great ric flair
WHOOOOO! The crimson tide are on top of my list due to the fact that when you can return a heisman winning running back (MARK INGRAM)and the QB who led you to the previous season’s title(GREG MCELROY) and one of the best WR’S in the nation(JULIO JONES) There is no way i can put them anywhere but number one! They lost alot off that great defense including both starting corners and the leader of that squad rolando MCclain but with all the talent they have and nick saban in there face the defense wont be as good but they’ll be fine. nov 6th at lsu could be the tide’s toughest game and you can expect the gators to come into bryant-denny stadium with visions of last year’s SEC championship game still fresh in there minds. but when all is said and done i think the tide will roll through the SEC this year!

So that’s it my top ten for the up-coming college football season! look for my heisman picks and winners of every conference in the coming weeks! until next time PEACE!
and dont forget to listen to the breakdown radio show every wednesday night @10pm central!
