Every March millions of sports fans fill out bracket sheets with hopes of predicting the NCAA basketball tournament. The one thing every March has in common is the love-feast that comes into play for the Cinderella team aka The Underdog. Yes we all love a feel good story that shows David playing Goliath. We love even more when they win a few games.

We fill out our selection brackets with hopes of predicting who will be Cinderella. Last year we witnessed Butler take on the Cinderella role. We were a half court shot away from witnessing the ultimate miracle story come to life. As the tournament of 68 approaches I decided to start my own Cinderella list for the 2011 tourney.

The top 5 2011 Cinderella teams:

Oakland Golden Grizzles' Keith Beson

5. Oakland Golden Grizzlies (13 seed)- This Oakland team no doubt draws a tough game with Texas in their first matchup. Do you think the Golden Grizzlies are afraid? Absolutely not! This team is explosive on the offensive end and is second in the nation in FG percent and points scored. They have 5 players on offense who can put up double digits. They are led by Keith Benson who averages 18 pts and 10 reb per game. Benson has developed into one the best big men in college basketball. Oakland will be a hard task for Texas to knock out. They come into the game with only one lost since Feb 5 winning 18 out of their last 19 games.

Belmont Bruins' Ian Clark

4. Belmont Bruins (13 seed)- The Belmont Bruins might not be known in all parts of the country, yet. This is a 30-win team that knows how to win games. In 2008, this team was a last minute shot away from knocking off Duke in the first round. This Bruins team has good depth and can shot the 3 point shot with the best of teams. They bullied the Atlantic Sun conference this year by a winning average of 21 points per game. Yes they do not own a victory over a Top 25 team this season, but that is what March is for. Time to shock the world, or for the Bruins players finish what you started in 2008.

Utah State Aggies' Tai Wesley

3. Utah State Aggies (12 seed)- The Aggies are another team all about playing like Charlie Sheen parties.. Winning! This 30 win team from the WAC owned the conference this year, The Aggies will be contested against Kansas State in their opening game of the tourney. Many experts believe this team could find Cinderella’s slipper for a few games and back a Sweet 16 push. They are led by Tai Wesley who averages 14.7 pts and 8 reb per game. They also tend to play 8 players per game keeping their legs fresh for crunch time. Will the Aggies have enough gas to make a deep push in the tourney? Only March will tell, but one thing is for sure, keep an eye open on the Aggies their experienced players know this their one shot to become a Cinderella team.

Old Dominion Monarchs' Frank Hassell

2. Old Dominion University Monarchs (9 seed)- The Monarchs don’t want to be called a Cinderella team. They feel like they belong. They won a tournament game last year against Notre Dame and nearly beat Baylor to land in Sweet 16. This season they look poised to go even further during the dance. They are playing last year’s Cinderella Butler in the first round. This is a very strong rebounding team led by Frank Hassell that is 7th in the nation. Kent Bazemore and the Monarchs play an extremely tight zone defense. Beware of the Monarchs to bust your bracket, just don’t say the Monarchs will be suprised one bit if they advance deep in the tourney this year.

Washington Huskies' Isaiah Thomas

1. Washington Huskies (7 seed)- The Huskies won the Pac10 thanks to Isaiah Thomas and his buzzer beating shot. They were already looked at as a team that could win into the Sweet 16. Now they look like a true Cinderella that could come out of the East region. They have a true clutch leader in Isaiah Thomas and are experienced in big time games. This team can fill up a score sheet as they are 3rd in scoring, 8th in assist, and 12th in rebounding in the nation. This is a team that gets production from Thomas as well as Bryan-Amaning, Holiday, Gaddy, and Wilcox. Watch out for the Huskies they are ready to rock the East region and show the world who is the 2011 Cinderella team.

If you are looking to join a bracket .. please email SportCityChefs@gmail.com for more information. Don’t forget to catch our show this Thursday for all your March Madness info.. Court-Side Cocktails !

The NBA flourished in the 80s and 90s because of the intense rivalries throughout the league. This was a great era for the game as physical basketball ruled. The players disliked their opposing players, fans, and orginizations. This was no secret.

The league exploded in major markets like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, and Miami. Rivals were born and championships were earned. The blood, sweat, and tears of the 80-90s disappeared. The game of basketball would change in the 2000s and lose some of the heated rivalries we grew to love.

The New York Knicks added Carmelo Anthony on Monday ending the Melomania of the past few months. If you ask me the MANIA is just about to start. The NBA has awakened old rivals and added them to new rivalries currently ongoing in the NBA. With that being said I am going to list the top 5 NBA rivals of the 80-90-2000′s. Get ready.. NBA’s bad blood will return, creating an exciting new era in the NBA.

Greatest Rivalries of Past:

Honorable Mentions (NYK/BOS, CHI/DET, NYK/IND, DAL/PHO, LAL/PHO)

Spurs/Mavericks of 2000's

5. San Antonio Spurs/Dallas Mavericks

Everything is bigger in Texas including the HUGE rivalry between the instate Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs. This rivalry is relatively new but still very fierce. Both of these teams have Dallas roots and share the state of Texas for their fan base. Since 2000 these 2 teams have played 5 times in the playoffs with the Spurs leading 3-2 in series play. This rivalry is one of the only true rivalries of the 2000′s. Key rivalry members: Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Mano Ginobili, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Michael Finley, Mark Cuban, Greg Popovich, Don Nelson, and Avery Johnson.

New York Knicks and Miami Heat during 90's

4. Miami Heat/New York Knicks

One of the fiercest rivalries in recent history, the Knicks–Heat rivalry was always a long drawn out playoff series. The bad blood spilled into fighting numerous times over the years. They met each other in 4 consecutive playoff series from 1997-2000 with each series playing the maximum allowed games. The Knicks-Heat rivalry was always a close physical game. Key rivalry players: Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Allan Houston, Jamal Mashburn, Larry Johnson, John Starks, Pat Riley, and Jeff Van Gundy.

Lakers/Spurs rivalry of 2000's

3. Los Angeles Lakers/San Antonio Spurs

The Western Conference has been dominated by two teams since 1999. The Lakers and Spurs are those two teams. When you want to be the best you have to beat the best and that is how these two teams developed a true rivalry. Since 1999, these two franchises have a combined total of 9 ( YES NINE) Larry O’Brien trophies. The Spurs won the NBA finals in 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007. The Lakers won the NBA finals in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010. That is a whole lot of hardware between these two powerhouse franchises. From 1999-2004, these two played each other every season in the Western Conference playoffs with the winner winning the NBA championship. Key rivalry members: Kobe Bryant, Time Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Phil Jackon, and Greg Popovich.

Bulls/Knicks during 1990's

2. Chicago Bulls/New York Knicks

This is my personal favorite rivalry of all. The Bulls and Knicks. Chicago and New York. The Big Apple and the Windy City. Jordan and Pippen. Ewing and Starks. Just replaying the games in the 90s gives me the chills. I will have to say I was fortunate enough to see a few of these classic games in person. The old Chicago stadium would roar to new levels when the Knicks game to town. Madison Square was always buzzing the minute Jordan stepped into the arena. Since 2000, the rivalry has fallen off due to both teams rebuilding their franchises. The one thing that has stayed is the power of both the Knicks and Bulls while rebuilding. New York and Chicago are two powerful cities and have dedicated sports fans. The 90s rivalry grew with bad blood year after year of playing the playoffs. The rivalry was in high gear from 1989-1996. In 1992 and 1994 we were witnesses to two Bulls-Knicks seven game series. We have had endless highlights from these games and numerous fights. The bad blood was won out with 6 NBA Championships for the Bulls and only 2 NBA Final appearances by the Knicks. Despite the Knicks not winning an NBA title or beating the Bulls in a series while Jordan was in the league, this rivalry was still considered the most contentious of the mid-1990s. Key rivalry memebers: Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman, Patrick Ewing, John Starks, Charles Oakley, Charles Smith, BJ Armstrong, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Jeff Van Gundy.

Lakers/Celtics during the 1980's

1. Los Angeles Lakers/ Boston Celtics

This is hands down the greatest rivalry in NBA History. These teams are equivalent to Yankees-Red Sox or Tar Heels- Blue Devils for the NBA. These are the two most stories franchises in the league. The Celtics have 17 NBA Championships while the Lakers have 16. This was the IT rivalry of the 80s and has been reestablished in 2008, facing off twice in the NBA Finals since. This historical rivalry goes all the way back to 1959 when the Celtics swept the Lakers to win the championship. The Lakers and Celtics made 13 appearances in the finals combined between 1979-1989. The Celtics won 3 trophies while the Lakers took home 5 Larry O’Brien trophies. The height of the rivalry featured Magic vs Bird and even started the Beat LA and Beat Boston chants that still go on today. The two teams squared off in the 1984, 1985, and 1987 NBA Finals as well as the 2008 and 2010 NBA Finals.Key rivalry members: Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Pat Riley, Doc Rivers, and Phil Jackson.

All of these rivalries have left their stamp on the NBA history books. I look forward to the next great rivalries to start and bring a new jolt of energy into the sports world. The NBA is a better place with intense and physical basketball being played.

If you are craving some serious basketball talk mixed in with the humor of your daily happy hour look no further. Mark Moseley and Major Gray present Court-Side Cocktails on the Sport City Chefs network. We love the no look pass, the up and under, and a windmill dunk just as much as the rest of you. The NBA, NCAA, and Street basketball talk has never been so engaging and unique. We are 100% interactive from the caller to the chat room. We want to hear your opinions as well as give our own.

We created the Court-Side Cocktail to give a new fresh outlook on basketball. Who doesn’t love a nice drink while sitting up close and personal? We all do. The cost of actually does this on a regular basis is the hard part. We make sure to talk strictly basketball and show off our “white” hops. Who said White Men Can’t Jump? Well if he can’t, he better have a smooth Jumper!

Welcome to The Fantasy Forecast .. Week 1. The NFL season is upon us today! Football fans across the country are excited for the opening kickoff tonight for the season. This also means Fantasy Football starts today as well. I will be giving my fantasy forecast and a weekly rankings every Thursday during the NFL regular season. For week 1, I will only list out the top 25 for QB and RB position based upon matchups. I will include a preview with the Thursday Night game featuring the Saints and Vikings. Starting week 2 I will take a look into each game and forecast the players that look good/bad for the upcoming games. The forecast will be based upon the standard scoring system (4pts per TD pass, no ppr, 6pt per TD run). If you have any questions about certain games please feel free to email me at sportcitychefs@gmail.com and I can include the questions at the end of the segment.

Opening Night Forecast

Vikings @ Saints: Yes the Opening Game is here! The Thursday night showdown should be a fun one to watch for fantasy players. The first game of the season has a few must starts as always.. Brees, Peterson, Colston and Favre. With Sidney Rice out, I like Visanthe Shiancoe and Bernard Berrian for the Vikings offense. I actually like Berrian more than Percy Harvin because the Saints will focus on watching Harvin all game long. For the Saints, I like Devery Henderson and Pierre Thomas in this high scoring game. The players I would stay away from are Reggie Bush, Robert Meacham, and Jeremy Shockey for the Saints and Percy Harvin for the Vikings. I would also sit both D/St units in this game.
